Watch Nashville guitarist Kenny Greenberg, who plays with country star Kenny Chesney, demo a new Magnatone Varsity Reverb amp with his Koll Super Glide Almighty. This is the black-over-gold-over-flamed-maple Koll that debuted at NAMM 2014, inspired by Neil Young's "Old Black" Les Paul. Pickups are triple Lollar Imperial humbuckers. Killer tone, Kenny!
A New P-90!
Here's something we're really excited about: a new exclusive pickup! It's a collaboration between Saul Koll and Rob Timmons at Arcane Pickups, a custom wound P-90 with "a little more hair on it" as Saul puts it. We haven't decided what we're officially calling these yet (K-90? KP-90? P-town?) but they'll be in the new Junior Glides and Junior Glide Specials we're introducing next month. They feature Alnico 3 magnets and are custom wound on a vintage winding machine. These pickups are tuned to Koll instruments by Saul's ears,
We'll be cranking these up through some Satellite Amplifiers at the NAMM convention in January, booth E1385. We can't wait to post some demos of what these babies sound like. More details soon!
A Rare 1995 Koll Junior Glide
This early Koll recently turned up in the used department of one of our favorite shops, Chicago Music Exchange. We quickly snapped it up for our archive (which we refer to as "The Kollection"). This gold Junior Glide is the 46th guitar Saul ever built, back in 1995. So it's acquired a "light relic" finish the old fashioned way... from twenty years of playing time. The interestingly shaped bridge pickup is a rare TV Jones Electroflux.
